Join us at TheWayoftheGame.net!

We talk about it in Episode 23.  Joe talks about it in a post on GLN.  Alex talks about it in a WotG post.  I don’t think much more needs to be said here, other than thanks for listening so far, and we hope you’ll keep listening as we transition to http://thewayofthegame.net/ and beyond.

This feed will continue to update throughout June.  The episode released on June 30th, though, will be the last one.  The feed is up and running at TWotG.net, and soon this post will have a link to our new iTunes feed.  We apologize for any inconvenience, but we also think this is going to provide more and better content than before.

This is the last episode that will be released on this feed.  Please switch over to http://thewayofthegame.net/

It’s finally time for our Best of 2009 Show!  Woo!

Before we get into that, Alex talks about some of his recent micro-purchases, including a table for Pinball FX and a couple of games in the XBLA Game Room.

Jonathan has received his invite to the OnLive Service, and after a few days playing with it, he has some thoughts.

Once we’re done with that, we get into our lists, and we’ve got contributions from around the web, as well: Tim White from Return to Northmoor, Tony Mast from the Back Seat Producers, David Pinilla from the Podge Cast, Chris Engler from Wapcaplets, RiB from Down Under Gamers, Mike from Bear Swarm, and Jim Brown from the Internet!  We’ve got some surprises, and we’ve got some really obvious choices, but all in all, I don’t think you can really complain about any of the games on anyone’s list.  They’re all awesome.

Enjoy!

We’re back on our regular schedule with our E3 wrap up show.  Hopefully you enjoyed our early coverage and experimental commentary.  Next year, if we’re not physically at E3, we’ll have to actually make plans for doing more direct coverage.

Alex, on vacation from the world, basically, spent the week playing with a ton of XBLA games his brother “gave” him: Castle Crashers, Snoopy Flying Ace, Toy Soldiers, and Beat Hazard.  Also distracting him from his E3 watching duties has been Splinter Cell: Conviction.  Apparently, it’s quite good.

Jonathan has been focused on the E3 coverage, and so hasn’t played much.  The rest of the ‘cast is devoted to the announcements from E3, and who won what.  Our choices might surprise you.

This feed is shutting down on June 30th.  Please switch over to http://thewayofthegame.net/  Thanks!

It’s our first pre-E3 episode, which is why you’re getting hold of it early.  Before we jump into E3 speculation (and music game debates), there’s some game talk.  Jonathan has parted company with Demon’s Souls, but he’ll be back for more later.  Alex’s elves were destroyed by goblins in Blood Bowl, and he’s thrilled with Bad Company 2.

We want you to contribute to our Best of ‘09 show in a couple of week.  Deets are here.

Our E3 preview covers the Nintendo 3DS, next-gen motion controllers, the new keytar, and which company has the most to prove (Hint: their name starts with an “S” and ends with an “ony”).

Happy half-year anniversary, folks!  We’ll just ignore the technicalities of time and space, and just use this as an excuse to celebrate!

We talk about games this week, because that’s what we’re all about!

Our early discussions are prompted by listeners.  Jonathan has been tasked with talking more about the PS3, but he’s having a hard time saying anything nice about the user experience.  Consoles are all about the games, and the games are worthwhile, but that’s about it.  Meanwhile, Alex gripes a bit about the genre change Front Mission: Evolved is going through, tying it to Shadowrun.

In other news, Jonathan picked up GameFly and doesn’t reference Alex in the process, costing him twenty bucks.  Jonathan’s also getting in on OnLive with an offer he couldn’t refuse.  Here’s hoping it’s not crap.

Games Discussed:

Finally, Alex is excited about the upcoming launch of Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure, and (possibly) Hulu on Xbox Live.

We are back!  As much fun as it was to record with David, it’s refreshing to return to our usual format.  We’ve got some game talk, a little revisit of the changes, and a topic for you this week.

Jonathan is accused of poop-socking Red Dead Redemption.  He denies it, but it’s kinda true.  Alex has been playing Aliens vs. Predators, and wishes there were others to play with him.  Solium Infernum comes up (shock shock), as does a brief mention of the upcoming third season of Table Saw Blood Bowl.

In the topic section, we discuss EA’s new multiplayer strategy, and explore whether it’s a good idea or not.  We also compare it to the decisions other companies are making with regards to DRM (we’re looking at you, Ubisoft), and even discuss the fashion industry for a moment.  (This is a pretty fascinating TED Talk.)

After a stunning cliffhanger ending in Episode 23, will we finally learn The Jackal’s Top Ten?  Or will Alex and David continue to argue while Jonathan just sits back and shakes his head?  The quick answer: Yes.

There’s not a lot more to add here, but it may be worth noting that Jonathan has picked up Red Dead Redemption for the 360.  While we’ll no doubt be talking about that in Episode 25, if you want to posse up with The Holmberg, his gamertag is StingRayO2.

Enjoy!

We open up the show with some talk about the in-house changes at the Way of the Game.  The brief rundown has been covered in a few different places.  I’ll just write here that if you’re subscribed via the gamelocus.net feed, you’ll want to transition over tohttp://thewayofthegame.net/ as the June 30 WotG will be the last episode released on the GLN feed.  We’ll drop reminders in the show and the feed as time goes on.

Next up, games this week:  Alex plays some FFXIII, Jonathan finally cracks open Heavy Rain, and David talks about his newfound love for Halo: ODST.

And that’s right, David is back with us.  Our discussion in episode 22 ran longer than intended, and we didn’t get the opportunity to grill David on his Top Ten.  Due to time constraints, we still don’t grill him on his Top Ten, but David does have some great honorable mentions we get into.  Next week we’ll have his Top Ten (for real this time), and you can also head over to our forumsfor a sneak peek and to contribute your own.

We have a special guest this episode: The Great Mr. Chibi!  David has been a guest on a few different podcasts, most recently the Up! episode of Back Seat Producers.  He’s an art student, and we’ve brought him on to help us discuss the Games As Art issue, such as it is.

We talk about a ton of stuff, and Jonathan (who’s writing these show notes) is swamped with finals, so the show notes are going to be a bit light, even if the show is full of topics.

Here’s some of the inspiration for this episode:
